Peter's Week

Hi All,

Just a quick update for the week.  Kind of wild. Still sorting out at work after the layoffs.  I get the impression that I'm supposed to be taking care of all details that are not known by anyone above me in the chain-- :-) In other words, "we don't know what you do specifically but if anything goes wrong, you should have known about it!".  I spent part of the week working with Band Crashers  (www.bandcrashers.com).  They think they are going to stream live concerts for Sting, Lenny Kravits (sp?) and others over the Sundance Film Festival but they are working with a new player, new page, four sets of developers and new crews and then expect it to go off without a hitch! Clueless. What's more, I understand that we just signed a 18 month exclusive with them to cover all music events--can you say bullet in the foot (300 magnum)?  Anyway, Friday night I was manning the operations center with a satellite truck at the "Battle of the Bands" concert, five camera guys, feeding through a satellite to our satellite operations center in Murray, then to five of our encoders and back through the Internet to us in American Fork.  There were supposed to be five live screens on the web page and here's me and another guy, up to our elbows in html code, trying to figure out why none of it worked.  First, having me do that is WAY scary!   It didn't go well..... maybe another trial on Wednesday and then a real Live event on Saturday!

But, we left right from that on Friday, and went to the airport in Salt Lake where we awaited the arrival of our dear Sister Webb from her mission in Lithuania! What a treat and a great way to spend a Saturday night! David, Jordan and Tyler went to the top of the forbidden stairs and escorted her down the escalator.  She looked wonderful!  It was great to give her a hug and see her return.  There were tears and hugs and many of the family were there including Steve & Shannon and kids, Dan & Jill and kids, the Hunters (Michael had just come in from CA), me and Amy and the Webbs.  I look forward to spending more time with my old roommate and catching up on the last 18 months!

So for the Christmas party... the kids are hoping for a gift exchange.  I know it's a hassle for parents but unless there's major objection, can we do it? Dollar store items are the theme.  I'm sure some of us located near Dollar stores can pick up a large supply for those not near so let us know if you want something.

See you all on the weekend!

Week in Review

Michael started a new job in San Jose for a company called Sun Power (Solar stuff). He is staying at his parents house for now. It was a big week  for him as new jobs always are.  We are very proud of our Dad for the sacrifices he makes for his family.  We are very grateful to have work right now.  I am very glad to have the opportunity to be at home with the kids. I've been busy putting up The Christmas decorations.  They are up as of today.  Andrew was down with the flu last week but seems to be better.  He is sleeping much better which is a great relief to me.  Two nights last week I was up most of the night.  We had the Ward Christmas party Friday night and Alyssa sang a solo.  She enjoys singing.  Kayla worked two nights at Training Table and had a date. Cami went to a concert at BYU and to a movie with some friends.  Paisley got her bike stolen so she was feeling a little blue.  She and I also went to Salt Lake to have her fitted for a brace.  We have enjoyed the warm weather but are happy to see some snow today. Have a great Day!

Peter's Week

Ahhh.... the benefits of global warming! Yesterday (December 4th) I dug up the garden, planted a few bulbs for next spring and put up Christmas lights... all in my shirt sleeves... in addition to going for a nice bicycle ride.  What a beautiful day! Work this week was ok... nothing really exciting (good or bad).  I did get to meet with my new boss who has been thrust into the role of solving all the companies problems and has a good idea of the scope of what they are so I'm just working with him to keep loose ends from strangling people. Nothing too critical or demanding and I've been fairly productive without so many meetings because there are few people left to have them with.

So the big news coming is Jessicas arrival on Friday night which we are all anticipating greatly.  Then I believe she is reporting her mission on the 14th.  So, Webbs and whoever can will congregate.

We're also looking forward to the Family Christmas Party on the 19-20th at the Cub River Lodge.  We have the place from 3 p.m. on Friday to 3 p.m. on Saturday so more details on activities and food will follow.

thanks giving thanks

This is a kind of summary of the things that we have very much to be grateful for:  first of all we had the privilege of having Peter driving us down to the beautiful valley of Fruit Heighths for a lovely dinner at Frank and Melissas for Thanks giving dinner, not only that but there was Amy and Shanes family Carolyn and Brady's and Dan and Jill's Family.  As it turned out we were able to be back home by 10:30 pm.   As I look out the window this morning everything looks kind of drab and colorless as this is late fall and going on winter; but we have very much to be grateful for.  It was 50 yrs ago this month and we were out to Grays Lake  bringing the cattle in and the right rear wheel on the old Diamond T truck came off and I was the last truck and I walked about 7 miles to catch up with thr rest of the trucks as thery were stuck on hermonson hill.   As I was walking along and it was after dark and the clouds sort of cleared and the stars came out and I thought I could here singing "For un to us a child is born, unto us a son is given".  When I got home that night Iearned that Grandma Chris had taken Zan to the hospital and little baby Steven was born.  I often think of the tremendous influence that I have had but not always according to my design but just due to the fact that I was a factor in bringing him here on this earth.  I am truly grateful for the kindness that has been extended unto myself and our family and I know I am undeserving of a lot blessings we are recieving.  may the Lord bless you all as we approach this Christmas season. in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
