while on Saturday (see pics). They were all down for Kathe's annual
candy house building party and I stopped in for a few minutes to
something that looked like a packed Santa's workshop. Fun times. They
are such a great little family (soon expanding). Sophie played me
Jingle Bells in chords and sang while she was playing.
The week at work was moderately enjoyable. I'm focusing more on just
helping people at or below my level and there are some really good
people there. We had our annual Christmas party so fun to socialize.
I introduced myself to Roxanne's husband who seems like a very nice
guy. Interesting how everyone is just people but the decisions they
make tend to mess things up for other people in a big way. I keep
thinking of what Dad used to say about not asking someone else to to
do a job that you weren't willing to do yourself. That would be such
a foreign concept in our company but I think it would really help.
But, leaving for vacation this week so not going to worry about it
much.
Hayden and I are leaving for Costa Rica on Thursday morning and will
be there until December 23rd. Airfare was fairly reasonable so if
anyone wants to join us, come on down! We're going on the cheap and
will be doing beaches, volcanoes, maybe the Caribbean coast and
possibly venture into Nicaragua or Panama. Looking forward to the
break as I haven't taken real vacation time since a year ago last
July.
Mooney Chronicles.... Monday through Wednesday were spectacular days
for flying. My instructor was tied up so I called Robert Pearson and
he met me down there. We went through pre-flight then run up and were
just getting ready to contact the tower. When we pressed the
push-to-talk button on the mic, all the radios went dead so that was
the end of that. We had a good visit though.
I called Tito to come fix it and Wednesday he came but couldn't get in
the plane (the door doesn't open easily and if you don't know that,
you think it's locked). So by Thursday he had it fixed but the
battery was dead. I took it home and charged it on Friday then met
John Wagner (the instructor) out there on Saturday but this time, the
plane wouldn't start. It was colder and with it being a little
temperamental to start, I think we fuel fouled the plugs. Bruce (the
mechanic) said we needed to wait 2-3 hours so we did some talking
about instruments and how to fly and then went home. Maybe next week!
Kent was good enough to send a hand-held radio so that shouldn't stop
us next time.
The rest of Saturday (until way after dark) I was raking leaves
(finally) and doing a last short mow on the lawn. Everything was
pretty dry and I was blowing dust all over but it looks a lot better
now! Was going to put out Christmas lights but then realized that I
wasn't going to be he only a day or so until after New Years so why
bother! Rachel's brother Chad is getting married in Arizona on
December 30th and looking forward to a sledding party (or get
together) on January 1-2. For the Christmas party, we had Comedy
Sports (an improv comedy group) entertain us and I got some good ideas
for family fun. With all the acting talent we have, it could be
hilarious!
Take care all and we'll send pictures from the road!
Love,
Peter
