Weekend Update

Hello everyone!

Fantastic to have a nice weekend with warm weather and so I spent most of the day working around the yard--fertilizing, making sure the sprinklers work and sucking up dried leaves from last fall.  Just really enjoyed being outside in the warmth!

Here's what I know from the family this week....

Frank and the kids spent the better part of the week in St. George.  A couple of nice days where they could use the pool.  Melissa and little Cecily hitched a ride home and got some hopeful rest in advance of the others. I understand Frank and kids spent a day with Ben's family who was there as well.  Grandpa Burr bought a new casa and it's supposed to be quite nice.

Steve, Shannon, Elyse, Jordan, Tyler and Erin spent the week in California, day tripping out of a place they rented near the beach in San Clemente.  See the attached shots from the USS Midway and the Mormon Battalion in San Diego.

Dan, Jill and I had lunch at Famous Dave's BBQ in Midvale.  Dan's been helping me juggle financing details on townhouse mortgages so we met near the bank and Jill was able to come along.  Good meat, coleslaw and company!

I was able to video tunnel into the big celebration of Gordon's birthday party in Raft River on Friday.  Sounded like a great time with good food and good company.  Hayden and Madeline left RR on their way to California for spring break.  They stayed at my place but I--and my house mates--slept right through their coming in and leaving! Glad to see a loaf of bread on the counter and some sausage in the fridge!

For Dad's birthday, Paula came to visit and so did Aunt Sydney and they all went for a drive out to Dike Lake.  Dad said the lake was still frozen over and the docks had been pushed up in a pile by the ice. Happy 83rd Dad!!!

In Orem, all of the blossoms are out.  I have popcorn on the cherry, plum and the pear trees in the neighborhood.  Not a great shot but you can see Palisades Drive with blossoms on both sides the road.  It was like 15 years ago that we planted these trees as a neighborhood and one of the guys said, "When these trees are grown, this is going to look very nice in the spring!"

Last night, Kayla and Sean and his family stopped by and visited for a couple of hours.  Fun to talk to his brother Scoots and his mom Stella--sounded like an active family of kids!

Very nice Easter Sunday.  Easter wasn't a big celebration growing up so never really anticipated the holiday and didn't this year but yesterday at church was just really nice.  Our little choir sang and the timid new choir director did a fantastic job.  It was nice to ponder the renewal of life and the fact that things which appear to have died and gone through the cold dark winter, come back to life each year in the vibrant warm spring.
