Month-end Update

WOW!!! It's been some time since I wrote and lots going on this beautiful summer! Will try to be brief and use lots of pictures....and go by family.

Shane & Amy -
Start of the month with Nick and Kelly getting sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  It was a wonderful day and so happy for them and for the many family that were able to attend.  Shane's got a new job starting July 1 working at the church office building where he will be managing all of the logistics and operations for pre-MTC missionary activity including missionary calls.  Will be an exciting new opportunity and hopefully the commute will be a "light burden!"  Attached are pictures of a new fountain that he built and the gnome that Erica made for him.  As some of you know, the dogs and cat have gone on an incredible journey together.  Details only available on request.

Frank & Melissa -
Cecily is just delightfully happy!!! And Grandma was happy that she finally got to see her and all of the other kids on Saturday as the family journeyed to Idaho for a few hours.  Frank & Melissa continue to work on their house with the lastest project being to get holes drilled in the foundation so that they can vent and dry the dirt and get ready to finish the rest.

Dan & Jill -
I picked up a three-wheeled scooter for a good deal (Piaggio MP3 if you're wondering).  Really fun to drive.  Was hoping that it would work for Dad but a little to unwieldy.  No worries, Dan's going to take it and I think they will put it to good use.  He and Jill have been looking at lots and also considering a remodel of their house.  They had a great time in California on vacation.

Kent & Mignon -
Summer has them going in a hundred directions! I visited this weekend and only saw traces of them.  They have the new rock on the house which just looks fantastic! It's from over on the side of the Power Hill.  Girls have lambs for 4H.  New pheasants in the pen.  The chicks have grown to the point they are almost as big as the hens.  Saturday, Kent and kids headed to Palisades on a horseback ride looking for campsites for the scouts.  Kent has a new calling and is the first counselor in the Young Mens.

Steven & Shannon -
Somewhere in Colombia! Assuming they are with Brandon & family.  Spencer and Jordan spent the night with me in Orem this week as they brought their power washer down to clean and stain my fence.  Fun guys and loved having them here.  They had just dropped Allyse off at the airport and she was on her way to meet Jamie somewhere in Europe! Ty was at scout camp.

Michael & Virginia -
It's been a big week for them and hopefully things are working out well for everyone.  Michael discovered that the rudders for his bigger boat work for the smaller one so they hope to be sailing soon.

Ben & Janet - Talked to Ben this week but don't remember what we said other than our usual philosophy discussion.  He's been riding his bike and enjoying it and I've been hiking more and really enjoying feeling better.

Don & Greshen
So the big event of the week was Mom/Grandma's birthday which was celebrated at Alexander on the docks and lawns.  Wasn't there but sounded like a great time with Don family, Webb family, Kent family and other friends in attendance.  Thanks for spearheading the celebration! Also, the longest day of the year and sun was farthest north.

Gordon & Paula
Paula has been writing a weekly update for her immediate family that is great to tag along on.  In a nutshell, they raced to Moscow for a day to see baby George.  Anna, Steve & Francie are in transit between their condo, Idaho and soon headed to Indiana. Jessica is sending out a great summary of Captain Clayton's experience in Afghanistan, Larsen's weekly letters, Boston's golf obsession and more.

Grandpa & Grandma
Visited them yesterday and they are doing well.  Warm weather is good for them and they both have been outside working.  Always a treat to go home and spend time with them! They are enjoying the golf cart and we think we finally might be to the point where it doesn't freeze the garden--it did last week though!

Peter
Since the first of the month, I've been busy.  Andy Germann was here for a week at BYU Golf camp and I kind of got to play parent as he got sick and took him to the hospital.  Fun to have him here and he recovered. Spent Monday & Tuesday in Deer Valley at the Chateau at Silver Lake--a boutique hotel--in a leadership offsite.  Interesting that Mitt Romney was going to be there this weekend with his largest donors.  While we were there, secret service guys were inspecting everything in preparation for the event.

Over this last weekend, I took Oumar Traore who I work with, to Idaho.  He is from Mali, Africa and was very interested in irrigation, farming, and fish farming so we did a whirlwind tour.  Looking over all Kent's farm and projects; the fish hatchery, Monsanto, and then the Last Chance dam and followed the water clear to Bob's pond.  He's devout Muslim and yet got his MPA from BYU and is planning to return to Mali to give back to the people there.  I really enjoyed showing him around and he is such a great guy.

Looking forward to getting my scooter from the shop sometime this week (hopefully before it gets cold again!).  It was almost new but had been laid down so needs a little paint and body work.  Then, me and Dan are going to go terrorize a Maverick or something!

Hope this finds you all well.  The family is growing and with so much going on, we lose touch a little but love to hear from and about everyone.  Keep us in the loop so we can all keep each other in our prayers.

Love,
Peter
