March 10th, 2013

Hi All!

Just checked the Cleggclannews.blogspot.com and it's been over two months since I provided a 'weekend' update! Time for some news!!! Today was a very special day as baby Asay was given a name and a blessing by his father Nic and afterwards we all went to Kelly and Nic's place to celebrate.  Nic gave a wonderful blessing.  There were a LOT of priesthood helping and I just watched little Asay's face as he looked around at all those arms reaching down to hold him up.  He's adorable and just talks away, his face very expressive and accompanied by little noises. Kelly and Nic both shared their testimonies and we all were so glad we could be there.  The Webbs were down from Raft River and between the Cleggs, Littlefields and Alphins, there was a good crowd.

Here are a couple of shots:

The Don Cleggs went to Raft River and spent the day skiing at Pomerelle and then visited some of the wind turbines near Massacre  Rocks.  Looked pretty cool--even cold!

Don't know how many of you are on the "Soldiers Update" emails but this last one was great! So glad to have Clayton home safely.  The big news is Clayton has been accepted to Colombia for graduate work in New York City where they will be moving for fall.  This clip from their update was hilarious - "We went to the one and only Truth or Consequences, NM to enjoy a couple nights soaking in their famous hot springs.  We loved it and wish that we had known to recommend it to our visitors sooner!  But some hilarity did ensue: The first morning we came down for breakfast looking dapper for the day and found ourselves to be the only ones NOT dining in spa robes.  A little awkward.  So next morning we show up feeling smug in our own waffle-weave robes, only to find that we've been odd-ducked-out again: this time they're all clothed and we're the ones sheepishly cinching our terry-cloth belts. Alas."

Spencer flew to Dallas to interview for an internship at one of the big accounting firms for the summer.  Would be awesome if he gets it as he could stay with Brandon, Ashley and family - looking forward to baby boy #3 in the next few weeks.  Jamie's going to BYU and so all three kids will be there this fall.

Dan, Jill and family have been spending weekends in Idaho.  There has been good snow and with SIX snow mobiles running, they've gotten in some good sledding.  A couple of weeks ago, Frank, Melissa and kids came up for a beautiful sunny Saturday.  Great fun as Frank and I took the older kids up into the basins.  Sister Hayley had a wonderful experience in the Preston MTC when Elder Holland met with their small group.  I believe she is in Scotland now but don't know where she landed.

Kent's been working on the house (among other things) and we stopped in to preview the new fireplace--pretty cool! There are rocks from the Power Hill mixed with standard masonry rock.  They have the gray of the hill rock with yellow and green lichen.  For hearth and mantle, they have old timbers from the barn that have been worn down from years of being treaded on by horses - looks way nice.

Ben was in Arkansas for several days, trouble shooting one of their new large evaporator units.  He figured it out! Elder Wyatt is doing well and starting to emerge from the dark night of nordic winter.  Missionary work there is difficult but he keeps pressing on.

I just talked to Nan Hunter tonight.  For years she has wanted to live on a farm so they rented a little 30 acre farm in Walsburg near where they have property to see how they like living in the country.  Virginia, Michael and family have been up there today.  Sister Kayla sounds like she is having a grand time at the MTC learning Russian.

Frank, Melissa and kids were all in St. George last week for fun, sun and sand.  There's a darling video fo them jumping off a sand dune.  Cecily just turned one year old yesterday.  Frank said she will raise one finger when you ask here how old she is!

Dad and Mom are doing well.  They both visited doctors this week - Mom to the arthritis doctor in Idaho Falls and Dad the urology doctor in Logan.  Things generally went well and with the warmer weather, they've are both out and about.

I've been just trying to adjust to working since I got back from Africa! The trip was phenomenal and I'm still trying to get time to journal and put photos online in a way to share.  Here's a link to our guides and porters singing to us each night when we came into camp.  Cedric, the leader, was a great personality and we all just loved him!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CAqXYc1VjA

In addition to office work, I've been organizing the garage here in the loft house and also working on the condo in Orem.  I bought an oscillating saw (like Kent's) and was able to clean up a lot of the grout yesterday.  Almost ready to paint! Then some grouting and calking plust new flooring and I can get it rented.

Well, that's not ALL the news but it's a little on each family.  Hope you're all doing well!

Love,
Peter
