Peter's Week

A lovely week! (Boy do I enjoy being unemployed--at least not working for anyone!).  Monday I called Kim Hall at Leading Edge Aviation in Logan and he was ready to start working on the Mooney so I packed up my tools and screw gun and headed down for a day of removing inspection panels.  As Kim said, "Mooney is sure proud of their inspection panels!" There were 57 of them! Each with between 6 and 10 screws--how did they ever do this back in the 60's when no one had power tools? Anyway, it was actually an enjoyable experience and fun to see the guts of the plane.  Kim was great to work with and enjoyed telling me how things worked and what to watch for.  Of course, there were things I didn't want to hear like, "Oh, oh...this wing rib has a crack in it. This plane has sat by the ocean because there's a little corrosion inside.  Prop spinner has a crack and that fails the annual." And, "There's a whole part missing that anchors the muffler!" That was $650 worth of extra parts...." But, we should have it back in the air in a week or two.  See the attached pics.

Worked more on the house getting the stove cleaned (tip...smoother in Ammonia and let sit under a plastic tent for 12 hours).  I started the "self clean" and when finished, the bottom oven element was just floppy little pieces of charcoaled tubing! Anyway, it LOOKS much better.

Thursday drove to the Orem house (we're calling them the Orem House and the Bench House for now), stayed over night, cut the grass and then drove the BMW to St. George for Eric and Lauren Germann's wedding.  It was very nice and fun to see my good friends the Germann's and see a couple of good kids get to the marriage step without all the dating hassle. Dinner on Friday, wedding early Saturday morning and then I did a session and headed back to Orem where it was cooler!  (106 in St. George on Friday).

Ben's office now has a new sign (thanks to Megan).  Got to spend a little time with her as she stayed here at the house for a couple of nights until she can get into her new house for fall.  Also looking forward to having Haley in the neighborhood as she starts UVU this Wednesday with a full load of generals.

Big event of Sunday was the blessing of Francie Jane.  I missed the actual blessing but enjoyed the open house with good food and friends and family.  Kelly and Nick rode up with me and great to catch up with them.  Anyway, see some of the shots of this darling little girl!
