A viewing will be held in Burley Friday night from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be in Utah at the Bluffdale church at Noon on Saturday. There will be a viewing before the funeral at 10:30 - 11:45.
Obituary - Elva Ruth Bytheway Webb
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 29, 2010, Elva Ruth Bytheway Webb, 88, joined Calvin, her eternal companion on the other side of the veil.
Her life began on a wintery day, January 30, 1922 in West Jordan, Utah. She was the long awaited daughter of Henry Kendrick Bytheway and Mercy Rebecca Hill Bytheway.
Elva was raised with her 8 brothers and younger sister in Spanish Fork where her father worked for the sugar factory. After graduation she trained in dress designing and worked with Utah Woollen Mills. She also worked with the Red Cross for a short period of time during World War ll. She attended Quish's Beauty School and was working as a beautician when she met Calvin. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, 24th May, 1950. They settled in Bluffdale, Utah where they continued farming with his father and brothers.
During this time they raised five children; a daughter and four sons. They moved their farming and dairying operation to Raft River, Idaho in 1973. Elva's support and bookkeeping skills were vital to the success of the business. One of her greatest joys was seeing her children and grandchildren being productive, successful, and happy. She also enjoyed the beauties of the earth and captured them through her paintings, gardening and poetry.
Elva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings as well as supporting her husband in his. They enjoyed dancing and teaching others to dance. Together they served a mission to Johannesburg, South Africa in 1981-82. She was well known for her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and exemplified this through her kindness to others.
She is survived by her daughter Colleen Seely and four sons; Doug (Patricia), Michael (Carol), Brent (Margaret), Gordon (Paula); thirty-four grandchildren and forty-seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Ronald, Quintin (Jennie), Charles, (Frieda) Alvin, (Criesta) and her sister Darlene Bytheway. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers; Leroy, Glenden, Mervin, Ralph and a son-in-law, Jim Seely.
