Weekend update:

It is one of those rare nights where the planets all line up; the house is quiet and clean and I can take time to write in my journal, or the weekend update as everyone else calls it (Pete I hope you are saving all of these issues somewhere).   It has been a busy summer and the cool air and first blushes of Autumn signal the end.   Here is a quick update on our family.

Megan spent the summer working and going to school.  She works at a rehab/retirement/ assisted living center in Provo a couple of days a week.  She ended up living next door to Janet’s old condo over the summer and it was kind of freaky how it all worked out.   She came home a couple of weeks in a row at the end of the summer and now we miss her even more.  She is back to full time school and living in a house off from University Ave.  She was trying to go to Israel for a semester abroad in winter but missed out on the lottery.   She has not been too disappointed and we have talked about an adventure on our own.

Wyatt is Mr. Academic and loaded up with AP Government, AP Stats, Debate and some singing dancing class.  Don’t worry Pete I actually support him (As long as he doesn’t look at it as a career path).

Lindy is on the Volleyball team and if there was a class on party planning she would be able test out of it.  She started with a new piano teacher and is working her way through some pretty difficult pieces but amazes us on how she keeps it all together.

Dawsen started middle school this year and so far loves it.  He volunteered to help out in the lunch line and is playing Cello in the orchestra.  (Right now we own a Cello, Violin, Saxophone, Two Pianos and two guitars; needless to say we try to steer them toward an instrument we already own).

Tanna turned ten and had her ears pierced.  She is growing up so big but luckily she has her little sisters to keep her young.  Her and Andie can spend entire days in Barbie and American Girl doll fantasy land.

Andie was baptized this summer.  Wyatt performed the baptism and did a great job.  Andie and Tanna share a room and each night it is a fight to get them to stop laughing and quite down and go to sleep.

Brooklyn started kindergarten this year and the other day, I overheard her tell Janet she didn’t want to go. “ Just tell them I won’t make it today but I will come tomorrow”, she said.  I think Janet wouldn’t mind that so much.  It has been hard for her to see the beginning of the end of her little ones.

Janet is getting into the swing of things and gradually spinning up after a long summer of no piano lessons, homework and school activities.  Our old piano teacher dropped us because we didn’t take over the summer but I think it will be a blessing.  Janet is going to teach the younger three and we will see how it goes.

Me,  It has been a crazy summer with building an R&D project that takes dirty water from oil & gas wells and cleans it up.  I finished up the prototype and it works.    I have pretty much spent all summer in the shop pulling wrenches and plumbing.  Many times I have thought, “if my Dad could only see me know he would be so proud”.   I have really enjoyed it but now it is back to meetings and computers.  Right now everyone is excited and there appears to be an enormous potential but there is a long road between where we are and actually having units in the field.

Sorry for the Christmas card format but we will write more often so we don’t feel like we have to reintroduce everyone.  Sure miss and appreciate everyone.
