Happy Mother's Day!

A couple of weeks since writing so will catch you up but wanted to wish all of you that are mothers a wonderful Mother's Day! Watching how difficult teenagers and young adults can be on their parents at times, I'm inspired at your sacrifice.  And all of that makes me that much more grateful for our dear mother and her continued dedication and sacrifice to her children, their children and all that is good.  May we each be appreciative and my hope is that those who come after might build on the good efforts of those that came before.

Last weekend was a quick trip to Idaho with a little work on the bathroom.  I was amazed to hit an all out blizzard going into Thatcher that was so severe that I had to shut the headlights off and go with just the running lights on in order to see where I was going.  There were about 5 inches of snow on the road and mine were the only tracks as it was coming down so fast.  By Saturday afternoon and the trip back, it was melted off.  Good to see everyone if only for a little while but the highlight was going to Maniah's baptism.  She looked so beautiful and it was very nice service. Mignon gave the talk on the Holy Ghost and it was one of the best on the subject that I have ever heard.  She explained--and we all felt--that the Holy Ghost helps us to feel right about things that are right.  Maniah is a good girl and was excited to take this major step in deciding to be baptized.

Back to BYU ward on Sunday only now, we are the Provo YSA 132nd Ward.  New term and new faces and scrambling to get a new directory out with updates on people, phones, addresses and a slew of new callings. Sometimes doing the directory is like playing Huskerdu! You have names on the apartments and contracts but every time you think you have it nailed you go back and they've changed apartments! The people that manage the complex say..."You know who's on the contract but you never know who's sleeping in the bed!"  On Monday, we had an opening social and fried up burgers and hot dogs for four wards worth of kids.  One of the high councilors from Santaquin brought a homemade BBQ grill that allowed us to fry in style (see pic). I took a bunch of pictures in case we want to make one.

The week at work was good.  The sales team made their number for the quarter so that makes things go a little better and lightens the mood.  We even had a Cinco de Mayo party on Thursday with Cafe Rio, latin music and margaritas.  With our new VP of engineering (my friend Loren from Move), we've discovered we have a lot of work to do on the development side so we're scrambling to get all the work done that's needed but hopefully when we're done, we'll have a better system that we'll get more mileage out of.  He and I are headed to Ukraine this Friday to work with the development team over there and looking forward to the trip.  Will be gone for a week.

In other news, my house is officially for sale with a sign in the front yard.  Who knows if it will sell but the neighbors (the Gibbs) are also selling theirs and have an offer that is for more than I'm asking for mine so who knows. If it sells, great.  If not, great.  Would be nice to just focus on work and then spend weekends in Idaho working on that house.  But then yesterday, worked on the Orem house, planted the garden and the yard looks nice.  Had the house cleaned this week and it looks really nice as well (they even cleaned the fridge!) so hard to think of moving.

Saturday was just a fabulous day! Yard work. Time with the Hunters. Worked on the airplane and then dinner with Littlefields.  I took the charged battery out to the plane and was going to just to a flight around the valley but the wind had kicked up when I got there.  I love being out there on the airfield, working on the plane and just hanging at the airport. Anyway, was doing a preflight and noticed a few straws hanging out of the tail.  See the picture for what I found inside--again!  Dirty birds!!!!!! I just put the nest on a light pole and hope for the best (which is that the starlings won't hatch!).  Got in and the plane popped right off so anxious for some good weather to fly somewhere.

Today was James and Abby Hulme's farewell.  They got their calls the same day so had their farewell the same day even though Abby is leaving this week (Ventura, CA Spanish) and James is leaving first of June (New York, NY Spanish). They asked me to sing with the family choir as many of their aunts and uncles (who normally sing) were off to China with the Lynfords (from my ward) who are just finishing up their FIFTH mission together in Hong Kong.  Great talks on mothers and grandmothers.

What should I do with the beehive that's in my tree? Rachel took this picture.  I'd kind of like to leave it but it could be a liability for any little kids that disturb it.  She said she came home and they were swarming the culdesac and it was pretty scary...even for her!  Maybe call the city or a beekeeper.

Well, hope you all have a wonderful week! A little rain in the early week forecast but then more shirt sleeves and sun!

Love you all!
Peter
