What a week!

Let's start at the top of week and work down.....

A busy Memorial day weekend at the ranch with immediate family visitors Frank and kids, Ben and kids followed by visits from Aunt Shirley Boyack and Barbara Christensen.  Uncle David and Aunt Shirley also came and stayed a couple of days on their way to Ashlyn's graduation (Mark & Cynthia) and then on to Landon's wedding in St. George.  Thanks Uncle David for mowing my lawn!

On through the week, lots of preparations for Kelly and Nick's wedding.  I was supposed to help Nick get the soft serve ice cream maker and totally got caught in a meeting so didn't make it. (I just delivered it back tonight and it's HEAVY!).  At my house, people started showing up on Friday with Don and Greshen and kids and bringing Grandma.  Grandpa wasn't feeling up to coming and we missed him greatly.  Friday night we ate and talked til late and played on the accordion. I've been picking up a little of how to play it on the Internet so one day soon will record you a video. Pretty fun but it's like three different things going on at the same time--including chewing my tongue!

Saturday, there was cake ball manufacturing going on all up and down the Wasatch front!  Dessert for the wedding.  Also, several of us met at the church in Fruit Heights to join in Gavin's baptism.  It was a wonderful service just for him (not a lot of kids his age in their ward) with Dad and Mom both giving talks on baptism and the Holy Ghost.  I missed the second one as I was in the cultural hall watching Ryan going around kicking the basketball (see shots).  Gavin is such a good boy and it was a special service and opportunity to see his dad baptize and confirm him.  He received his own set of scriptures with marking pencils and a book light.  Afterwards, refreshments and finger foods in their beautiful back yard with cousins and Grandpa Homer.

Then to the Littlefield's for the wedding of McKelle and Nicholas.  It was a very nice ceremony with Shane performing the wedding.  Parents, grandparents, siblings and a couple of others were there (I ran the MP3 player).  Nick took his position by the fireplace (all were on seats facing that end of the room).  The music started and beautiful McKelle came down the stairs and through the room to join Nick.  Shane had them sit and gave some thoughts from the Proclamation on the Family then had them stand and read the marriage ceremony from his iPad.  Short and sweet.  Everyone hugged and then Mr. and Mrs. Allphin (Nick and Kelly) signed the marriage certificate.

Next, Grandma and I headed back to my house where pasta and sauces were under full boil! Paula and crew (Anna, Jessica and others) were cooking up multiple pots and pans of great food for the reception.  There was primavera and marinara sauce and multiple kinds of pasta.  Then bundled into the van and off to Nick's uncle's house for the reception where all family were there and ready and waiting to help.  The setting and decorations were fantastically beautiful.  Kelly had designed and created all the centerpieces. You can see the shots but it was beautiful with colors of beige, green, black and white.  My personal favorite touch was green cotton candy that matched the ribbons and green of the chair decorations and dresses!

All in all, a wonderful weekend! Thanks to everyone who made it such a success and our warmest and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas and McKelle Allphin and their journey through life together!

Now get ready for Megan and Alex! It's been great to have him here at the house for a few days.  We talked to him last night as he left this morning for a two week tour with the BYU Folk Dancers to Nauvoo.  He was missing Megan big time and looking forward to when they get back together.

Here's a snapshot of what I found out this week about family.....
Hayden shaved his head!
Tyler had a LaCross game on Saturday...
Hayley's enjoying Redfish and working hard
Dani had a birthday...and was sick (we missed you!)
Ben, Jan, Meg, Wyatt and Lyn are all in Israel.  They were supposed to keep us posted but I think most communication has been limited to Alex.  He said they were having a good time, swimming in the Dead Sea and headed to Galilee.
Melissa Graduated!!!!

Cami's been in CA all week with family and friends...just got back tonight and back to work at Vivint.
