This week last year, I was comfortable enough in both my work and Church jobs that I thought I could work from home a couple of days a week--in Idaho. Shortly after the purchase closed, I found myself in new jobs at both places...and not much chance to head up there. But this week went almost as the original plan. I left work Wednesday night and drove (weather was terrible for flying!) getting in a little before midnight. Two good PRODUCTIVE days of work with nights working on the bathroom getting the tub surround liquid nailed to the walls.
Everything up there is so verdant and green! So much rain and absolutely beautiful. You can see the crab apple tree in blossom looking out Mom's window. My grass was way high everywhere, even though Uncle David had just mowed it last week when they stayed. So, I've been thinking about it for a while and Friday nigh, Kai, Joe, Maniah (who fixed me a picnic lunch) and I got the trailer and headed to Home Depot in Logan to buy a lawn mower. Since the tractor is orange and the weed eater is orange and most of my shopping is at Home Depot, I went for an orange mower. An Ariens zero turn.
We got home late but Dad came down the next morning (Saturday) which was gorgeous and helped me get it fired up (battery was dead). It really goes and didn't take long for him to mow the whole lawn. It steers by two levers that control the back wheel motion and can be a little tricky. He said, "That's as much fun as flying a Piper Cub!" (see shot)
I used the loader and trailer and took a load of stuff to Kent's bone yard over to the well place. The three musketeers and I went over the back roads and it was fun to watch them entertain themselves. They concocted a contest to see which side of the tractor (left wheels or right) hit the most puddles and with all the rain, there were quite a few. So absolutely clean and clear, green and beautiful. I got sunburned during the day out but completely enjoyed working outside from sunup to sundown.
Anyway, the bathroom in the house is finally finished except for a few paint touch up things and I need to decide what will be the next indoor project. Mom is getting her little green garden area going and also planted more tomatoes in my greenhouse along with some peas and arugula that she planted a while back. Dad was out picking up rocks--a never ending job. They both are doing well and it's nice that they can get outside. We have several projects that need doing for them so if anyone is headed that way, let me know and we'll try and coordinate activities.
Hopefully, I'll be able to keep doing the two-day thing every couple of weeks all summer! Would love to have anyone in the family feel free to use the place and stay weeks at a time if you want.
