Moos From Around the World
Why I stood stock stiff this morning when Gordon and the boys tried to hug and kiss me goodbye before their week long campout I can only attribute to Jealousy.
It's not fair I'm left behind on their annual Young Men camp out and hike. This year takes Stuart, Larsen, Boston and Gordon to Palisades Upper Lakes. As a 17 year old I went on this hike as part of my final certification in Young Womens. It was my first and last pack-in I've ever done. I still remember it well. I asked Gordon if I could go with him and Boston. He said, "No, you're a girl." So he let Stuart and Larsen go... Something in my little envious heart tells me it's not fair that the richest memories my boys have in nature are without me. Year after year.
But Happy, Happy Times !!!! Jessica is here visiting from Texas. We tried a new approach to flying and picked her up at the Boise airport Sat. night. A great little airport. The same distance (a smidgen closer) as SLC International. No traffic or wait. Right now we're are making cookies and getting ready for a pizza party for my visiting teaching families tonight. Anna and Francie surprised us Wednesday night and they rode up to Boise with us to pick Jessica up. How fun can life get!
Hayden and Madeleine are about done celebrating their engagement by attending a Rossell (Madeleine's family name) reunion on the beach near Ocean Side. She introduced us to Google Plus last night and we had 5 camera's on at the same time. We laughed so hard as the camera focuses on who ever makes the loudest noise. It only took a cough from Steve or a cry from Francie to get the camera to switch and focus in on the culprit.
Larsen and Boston have been baling hay through the night. Our days and nights are all mixed up but the boys have enjoyed working together and enjoying sitting on their tractors over looking the farm eating their lunches at sunrise.
Kendrick and Megan are picking and canning cherries. Jenny found out how long it takes to digest cherries...and pits.
"Do you think things happen for a reason?" Larsen asked me several weeks ago. Saturday was one of those days that leaves me wondering if there is some Divine timing. We stopped for a break at Mountain Home before picking up Jessica. As I climbed out of the car I caught sight of Myles Van Leuven walking towards the gas station. Anna who worked extensively at Atlas, walked up behind him in the store as he picked out a bottle of water. "Myles?" He turned around and exclaimed, "Hi, Cousin!" We had a lengthy conversation with him and met his 3 little darling children and Laura his wife who was in Jessica's ward at BYU. They were on their way back from Rigby to stay with Grandpa Van Leuven for the night before heading on home. I remembered meeting Martin and JoAnn and their family in Nauvoo that night. We could have been in any line in the performance but we were in the one next to them. Do you think things happen for a reason?
The August issue of Southern Idaho Living Magazine is out. http://southernidaholiving.com/ The Maple Bar and Star Party were great stories to do. What a fun job!
Take care. I love each of you. Paula
