Hey everyone,
It is Sunday night and we just finished up talking with Megan, so I figured I would give a monthly update even though it is called the weekly edition (Sorry Pete). Here are the bullet points for those who are marginally interested or pressed for time.
- Megan has mono and is not supposed to snowboard for a month (seriously cutting into her fun)
- She went to Santa Barbara with her roommate last week. Went kayaking in the ocean. Wiped out on a wave. She realized the ocean is salty.
- Wyatt- finishing up debate. Highest scorer on his team except for one senior.
- Trying out for track tomorrow.
- Lindy -its skiing, volleyball & Piano. Volleyball, skiing & piano. (Piano is always last but she promises that will turn around)
- Dawsen – Learning to snowboard, got his weblos badge and almost has his arrow of light, also Piano.
- Tanna – Basket ball and piano. (Piano is last again.)
- Andie – Has glasses now. Looks like the carbon copy of her mother at that age. Piano but likes it.
- Brooklyn – Has a whole house of stuffed animals that take turns being real. She wrapped up a present for one of them whose birthday it was. Janet said out loud what the present was, and she burst into tears because now the stuffed animal knew what it was. She had ruined the surprise. The next day I asked how her pet was and she looked at me and said, “ Dad, he isn’t real”. At least we don’t have to have them put to sleep when they get tired of them.
- Janet - Received her young women’s medallion. ( Big congratulations)
- Ben – Writes it all down for the weekend update.
Long version:
I am not sure I really have a long version but I can tell you it is always busy here. Days and nights blend together in a never ending stream of reminders, encouragement, whines, shouts of excitement, counts to three and hugs and kisses. The good days are when the hugs and kisses out number the rest.
Megan seems to be doing great at school and is starting to learn many of the most important lessons in life. Like the value of your health, and the richness in life that good friends can bring. She has a great roommate and they have become best friends.
Wyatt continues to amaze us with his dedication and hard work. Everyday I bring in another letter from the mailbox from another university wanting him to apply. I am not sure how we can be related but I have really enjoyed having him around as we discuss politics, philosophy and the state of the world.
Lindy is starting into the teenage years where boys take her on those emotional roller coaster rides. She seems to have a good perspective and seems to enjoy the ride without placing to much importance on the outcome. She has become a great skier.
Dawsen is doing great and is our leader of the younger pack. He has turned into our chef. Making pancages for breakfast and brownies for the choir that meets here each Sunday.
Tanna is playing basketball and may be our basketball player. Her team has not won a game yet but they are still having fun.
Andie got glasses and is excited that she can see the world. We started reading little house on the prairie at night just for her. It is hard to believe they are getting so big.
Brooklyn is turning into our comedian. She sets up her toys all over the house and can play for days without interruption. Her only problem is that she doesn’t want to stop to use the restroom, so she comes down with wet pants. I tell her she needs to stop that and she just smiles and says, “ Sorry daddy”.
Janet keeps us all going and has the schedule all worked out. Her stake calling keeps her busy and she somehow keeps all the rest of us lined out.. It was neat of her to get her Young Womens Medallion. We were proud of her.
I am busy with work. We finally seemed to get some time with the CEO of the company and explain our perception of what the problems were and then present out solutions. He seemed to understand and gave us the green light on the next phase. We are still working on the bioreactor and about six other projects which hopefully will bear fruit at some point.
We appreciate all of you and though we don’t always make it to everything (Or anything it feels like). We just want you to know how much we appreciate everyone.
“It is always a good thing to be able to say you know great people. It is even better if you can say you are related.” Attributed to Mark Twain. ( Actually, I just made that up, but it sounds better if it came from someone smart).
Ben
