Peter's Week

Week two away from the office... went well.  Monday more work on the house, framing in the new shower and getting things ready for more drywall.  Tuesday, we spent a portion of the day at Aunt Golda's funeral.  It was a very nice service and such a beautiful day.  There were quite a few people there and Stanley, Lynn and Utauna were all classily attired and the flowers were beauitul--many of them wild flowers that they had picked from the hillsides.  Norval and Dad spoke and then Lynn and her husband Chuck gave memories from people and a life sketch.  Lynn read from the history that Aunt Golda had written and it was very entertaining.  She promised she would send me a copy that I could digitize.  Apparently, about 10 years ago, Aunt Golda had put gotten a little suitcase and put her temple clothes and history in it with instructions on the funeral.  Afterwards, we went to the pavillion near the stake center and had a luncheon.  The weather was a stark contrast to the day that Uncle Card was buried in January of 1969--I remember that day with a freezing north wind blowing.

Wednesday, I framed out a box for the fridge to stick in the backroom so there is more room in the kitchen and then headed to Scout Camp at the BLAB (Bear Lake Aquatics Base).  It was more of an endurance test than fun as the boys had pretty much finished up the merit badges they were working on and didn't want to do anymore.  I read a lot and went swimming with the boys.  I was a little disappointed at the fact that we didn't get to sail but on the last day, they did a canoe swamp which was kind of fun to watch.  We made it home safe and well and the boys earned an average of 6 merit badges per boy. Of course, don't ask them anything that they learned...they don't remember it but hey, they got it passed off!

The BLAB is on the east side of the lake and I thought how it might be nice to do the EFCY weekend over there in August.  There is a nice campground where you can set up tents and then drive on the beach.  I think we could get a couple of boats and would really like to line up a couple of sail boats and we could learn sailing as a skill.  It was really nice on the water.  I'll check to see who's got what going on for schedules with everyone.  We also talked about doing Webb Basin with cooking and going to the Temple open house in Twin Falls.
