Paula's Week and a Half...

Wonderful: definition... adjective  extremely good or remarkable.  For my week and a half I choose wonderful to describe "The Great Pumpkin Party" held here in Raft River this past Saturday. The only thing making it better would have been to have Amy, Ben and their families here. Memories are left laying all around the house and yard of pumpkin hunts, making carameled apples and chocolate chip cookies, playing football, cooking and visiting reminding me of the great love I have for each of you.  Thank you so much for making it such a memorable weekend.

Friday Gordon and I took Boston to school and then headed over to Twin Falls to look at upgrades in cattle trailers for Gordon.  Hauling cattle to market and transitioning between feedlots on the two farms has worn our old one out.  It was fun for Gordon to pick out a new and necessary tool.

I think Gordon has a talent for designing and implementing buildings, roads and strategies that make things work smoother.  Webb Basin Dairy has nearly completed (under Windmill construction company) a hospital facility for cows that need attention.  Gordon has designed (with the input of his brothers) the building and lock up system to help in operating on and helping cows that are having difficulty calving.   I woke up early one morning before it was light to see Gordon silently moving his fingers back and forth in a swinging motion.  I though he was dreaming or sleep walking with his fingers but discovered he as planning out the swinging motion of the gates in the pen.  It's ingenious how he has created a multipurpose chute to accomodate all aspects of treating cattle, from surgery to calving.

Boston ended his football season with his first ever undefeated season ever.  Unfortunately, as he put it, he saw very little playing time being a freshman.

Hayden and I spent a fun week with Jessica and Clayton in Quantico, Virginia.  They are excellent hosts.  We went to the war museum, Mt. Vernon, Virginia beach and many of the sights in DC.  I marvelled at how much Salt Lake City reminded me of DC in stately architecture and the claim of Divine guidance.  After learning so much about it in school and hearing about it in the news I felt like I had gone home to see where my roots were.

This weekend we stopped in to see Larsen at BYU-I.  We went to Guitars Unplugged and discovered most of the songs sung that night were from our era.  A lot has changed in Rexburg since we were there but many of the same buildings are nestled in among the growing additions.  Where I used to run early in the mornings along open fields is now housing the Rexburg temple, baseball fields and apartment complexes.  Larsen is rooming with all return missionaries.  He said he feels like he's already served a mission without the meat in it.

We continue enjoying our little granddaughters Jennie Lou and Francie Jane.  It was fun to have them here together with Great Grandma and Grandpa Clegg at the Pumpkin Party. We see them on video chat quite often and are thankful for their good parents and technology that keeps us in touch.

Again it was soooo fun to see all of you and enjoy the 2-3 days of partying.  Each of you were so good to help out and make it fun. Thanks for all your treats too.  It felt good to indulge in all the yummies but now it's back to watching what and when I eat.  It was a Wonderful past 1 1/2 week.  I love each of you.  Paula
