The Week

So the big events of the week are not "me" related so I changed the title to "The Week".  I'll start at the end of the week and work backwards.

Today was Elder Josh Littlefield's "prior to leaving on a mission to Spain" talk.  As Bishop Johnson said, "Today, we heard from superstars!" Both Josh and Melissa spoke.  Unfortunately, I missed Melissa's but heard it was fabulous!  (I was in bishopric meeting with the other Bishop Johnson--their bishop's (Scott) brother (Paul) who is the bishop of the single's ward I'm in).  Josh did a wonderful job and was so poised and confident and spoke with such a wonderful spirit! He even bore his testimony in Spanish and he hasn't even been to the MTC!  Lots of family were there on both sides--we couldn't figure out who all of these grown people were and it turns out, they are the Littlefield cousins (Angie, Amy and Chad's kids)! Not too long ago and their parents were just getting married. Then there were the Clegg cousins who are all maturing so rapidly as well.  Anyway, a wonderful meeting and great time afterward with Josh, family and his friends.  Dan, Jill and kids; Gordon, Paula and kid (Boston) with Anna and Steve coming; Hunters...good time had by all!  Watch for news of Joe's upcoming farewell in a few short weeks.

Last night was Halloween and instead of standing at the door and handing out poison to little children, I went to the movies! Not very crowded and a good night to go...The Littlefields went with and then after we went for hot chocolate at the bookstore Borders.  Fun movie and fun to spend time with them before Josh and Joe leave.

Friday, I had my wattage test in preparation for cycling camp.  Fortunately, I didn't have to peddle until I threw up or anything (not that I did last time but almost!).  You hook your bike into this mechanized machine on the back wheel and warm up for 10 minutes or so.  Then you start pumping at 17 miles per hour, increasing a half a mile per hour every 30 seconds until you get to the point where you can't sustain the level of intensity for a full 30 seconds.  The coach was watching my heartbeat the whole time.  I don't know if he was worried I was too old or if he actually had enough data but he stopped when my heartbeat had been at 175 for 30 seconds.  I could have gone more but he said, "I've got all the info I need!"  The coach said my heart rate did fall off quite rapidly after I finished which indicated my heart and lungs were in very good shape. From the data, he will calculate the 5 heart rate zones that I'll train in during the camp that's starting in a couple of weeks.  Looking forward to it and hope it motivates me enough to get back on a regular routine of exercise.  Lately, it's been more eatersize that exercise!

And eatersize is what I did after the wattage test!  I met Anna and Steve and some of Steve's family at the restaurant Lugano for a big bowel of fettucini to celebrate Steve's birthday...and of course, play with Francie Jane! Then over to their place for ice cream and chocolate covered strawberries that Steve's mom had sent.  He and I put together the Lego tractor he got from Anna while Francie watched us...she's such a doll! I asked Anna how she liked being home all the time and she said she LOVES being a mom! Wonderful! Attached are a couple of pictures.

I had run an ad in the paper to see if anyone was interested in buying a fraction of the airplane.  One guy called and wanted to take it up so Wednesday, I snuck out a little early and headed to Provo airport.  Gorgeous night for flying! He has a lot of hours in a Mooney and we flew around the valley.  He flies a lot lower than I do...I'm typically at about 3500 feet over the valley and he was flying at 700! But it was fun (see shot).  He has to sell his fraction of another plane first and wouldn't you know it, there are now five different fractions of planes for sale on KSL and 3 are Mooneys!  We'll see what happens.

So, they busted the wall out between our office and the suite next door at work and then put in new carpet and paint so our company can expand.  We also added a couple of new employees this week. Now just need to increase sales to pay for them! I've been working heads down and have gotten quite a few things done.  This week was focused on figuring out how to make our service 508 compliant--that's making software accessible to people with disabilities like the blind and deaf.  Turns out it's quite a challenge but I found a woman in Boston that has been working on things like this for 10 years and she's been very helpful.  Next week...getting ready for the Board Meeting coming up the second week in November!

Hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Peter
