Peter's Week and the Pumpkin Party!

A pretty busy week and topped off with the perfect pleasure of the pumpkin party!  Since I've seen many of you, I'll be brief.  Monday and Tuesday in the office.  Tried desperately to get the ward directory out before leaving and in a battle of wills between me and the devil in the machine (the computer), I might have won by a point or so.  To generate the picture directory, it took almost an hour to render.  Tuesday night, I rendered it 6 times before getting a version that we could print.  By then, it was 2 a.m. and I needed to get up until 4:30 to make the flight.  It did get printed and then today (Sunday) we found an error so had to pull out one page, mark it up by hand with scissors and scotch tape and then copy it and stick it in again.  In the end, the directories went out today...a great looking bunch of kids!

Wednesday flew to Fort Meyers, Florida where a representative from my company was invited by the company that does a lot of our development work in the Ukraine.  It was really a pleasant experience as they invited in industry luminaries to give us insight and education.  The company, SoftServ, was really a pleasant surprise as they work hard on providing good service, building up their people and focusing on innovation which they believe inspires and motivates people to do great things.  They really strive to create a family feeling among themselves, their customers and their partners which is a nice change.  The final speaker was Bill Rancic who was the winner of the first season of Donald Trump's Apprentice which we watched on television.  Interesting talk on how to be successful and I asked him, "Now that you're very successful, what motivates you?"  I think the question caught him a little off guard but he had some good insight on working with people.

The hotel was very, very nice and I left the "casino" night which the company hosted (gambling with play money....I gave my money to a guy that lost all his) and walked back to it early, catching the sunset shot over the golf couse with my iPhone.  Beautiful pools and fountains and palms with moon and stars and no one to been seen anywhere! So I got some goggles and ear plugs, swam spacious pool for a while for exercise, soaked in the hot tub and then just floated on my back, looking heavenward until time to go to bed.

A smooth flight back to Utah and met Cambria and her friend Michael and we drove to the Webb Basin Dairy, arriving at a little after 2:00 a.m. Slept on the pads in the upstairs garage, again looking at the stars through the skylight.  A wonderful day, filled with friends who are family, food, fun and farewells. Here are a few pictures.
