Peter's Week

I was looking for things that I thought would be noteworthy for this journal regarding work this week and just about concluded that the entry would be...."labored all week" indicating hours at the computer with little diversion and moderate success.  That idea changed dramatically on Friday afternoon when my boss pulled me and the other guy that he just hired outside for a minute and said he had been let go.  Both me and the other guy were shellshocked. Apparently, there's more history than I'm aware of but none-the-less, that feeling I was cultivating of being at an increasingly solid and safe company with a bright future suddenly disappeared. Tough deal as he has 4 little kids and seemed to be quite surprised himself. Looking on the good side, I now report to the CEO so no middle management and, I am now the keeper of the company iPad so have been using that all weekend!

Besides that...the weekend has been good.  I hand waxed the airplane so felt justified in letting Sonic Carwash wax the car and the pickup as prep for winter.  Everything is nice and clean.  Kent called and invited me to the BYU game but I was already headed to the airport so after I finished the waxing, I went up for a flight and circled over the stadium (see picture).  I don't know if it was the wax or the weather conditions but coming home from Idaho last time, I could barely get past 145 mph and yesterday, it was easily at 160.

Stopped by Littlefields for a minute and they were just on the way to the temple where Joe was going to take out his endowments as they get ready for both boys to head out on their missions. Melissa is the editor of the school paper and has designed a cool headline with tag and helped create the back page. (see pics)....pretty cool.

Kent and family stopped by for chips and salsa and a visit after the game and great to have the house busting with noise, toys and boys.  I hope they made it home ok as it was like 10 when they left and Kent was teaching Sunday school.  See the pics of the kids and their Cougar claws...they had VIP seats and got to park close and eat food from the VIP tent.

Today was a long day at Church.  I finally printed every member's picture, mounted it to a magnet and then did the ward organization on a big magnetic white board where we could put up pictures and see who had callings and who didn't. It was a hit! The bishopric selected several for callings from the picture pile and then we brought in the two Elder's Quorum Presidents and Relief Society Presidents and had them make selections and the number of people without callings dwindled dramatically.  We've been struggling to get our arms around everything and this really helped.  More to do on it this week.

Sunday afternoon, Hulmes invited me to fix Thai food and they invited the Dave Hunter family so good to catch up with Dave and Jill.  Dave had just master and commandered a big party for APEX that had the Nitrous Circus (motorcycle jumping which was a big success) and they were both recovering.  Food was good and we fixed tons but it went down quickly.

This week, headed to Florida Wednesday through Friday to meet with the people from the Ukraine that do our software development.  Looking forward to that and then on to the Punkin Party on return.

Love you all!
Peter
