- On Tuesday, my temporary living alone came to an end as Jessica abruptly abandoned Almo in favor of civilization and a return to her beloved Pony Express Elementary school and teaching kindergarten. In preparation, I finished tiling the bathroom and painting it along with the molding. Anyway, WONDERFUL to have her here! She's had many of her wonderful friends over already and has fixed me several meals. Very enjoyable.
- Work has been fairly good. As long as I don't have high hopes for the future, I'm enjoying getting some things done and also spending more quality time talking to people. My new boss at least has a logistics mind so there is order for the first time since I've been with the company. This week was CES (big show in Las Vegas). I was supposed to go but since we didn't have much new to show, I got out of it. I've been spending quite a bit of time getting a system in place that will allow us to track everything right down to who's doing what and when it will be done--I think that will help everyone.
- Yesterday, I found the right tools to dig into the mildewed caulk that was growing in the bathrooms so spent most of the day removing the old and putting in the new. It's been one of those things that has bothered me for a long time and so glad to have it fixed. I hung a couple of beautiful little paintings that Amy gave me for Christmas and the house continues to get a little more updated. Need to paint the rest of the rosy taupe color and then will be sort of ready to be done with the house until next summer!
- Making tentative plans to climb Mount Rainier this summer with Mark and my friend from work Jim. Pretty cool to get on Google Earth and go look for actual trails that have GPS points and photos.
- Today was a nice day as we now have church early. We got a new bishopric last week and Gibb Dyer is the new bishop. That five years went fast. We just got another advisor in the deacons--hopefully he will actually come. We now have 5 leaders in the scouts but it's mainly me and one other guy. The composition of the group has changed a little and the boys are more receptive to activities and lessons. I also had one of my early boys stop by and visit and it was great to spend time with him. He didn't see the value in college but forged ahead and now is on scholarship at USU. I'm kind of envious as he is doing an international business degree and will be doing a five week intensive in Asia and then another six weeks in Europe.
- Yesterday, I got some boots for those old cross country skis and went up the Squaw Peak road. The sunset was spectacular! Firey sky to the west with Timp all light up in orange and pink. Very grateful to be able to be outside and enjoy such beauty.
Love,
Peter
