Ben Cleggs

Hey Everyone,

The latest update from Hyde Park.  It is Sunday night and we just finished up another busy week.  Piano for five kids, Marching Band, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Flag football, Cub Scouts, Mutual, Achievement Days, Karate, Home coming parade, Canned 48 quarts of peaches from our trees, 7 quarts of tomatoes from garden, Dinner for Home Coming group date, and Dawsen and I went down to the BYU game.   Janet has to take credit for 99% of it since I have been pretty busy with work.  She does a great job keeping the ship running smoothly.  .  That is not to say we don’t have the occasional (What? You have not practiced once and your lesson is tomorrow experiences).  Suzie and Sharon are here for a couple of weeks and they brought the dog.  It is a good reminder to us why we will never have a dog.

Wyatt had his first date and had fun,  even though it was Friday afternoon and he still had no Idea ( At least he was not telling us) what they were doing, where she lived, what her phone number was, where they were eating, and if they were buying flowers.  As Janet helped him work through the logistics he kept muttering under his breath that he would never do this again. With the complexity of these big dance dates, I can see why kids just want to Hang Out.

Dawsen and I went down to the BYU game Saturday afternoon.  We stopped by Pete’s but he was not home, so we sampled some of his tomatoes (you need to do some canning Pete).  We met up with Megan at half time and then skipped the rest of the game since it was pretty obvious what the outcome would be.  I got to see Megan’s place, and we ate at the Creamery by her dorms.  She walked back with us to the stadium just as the game ended.   She had a date she had to get to, so we said goodbye and she drifted away in a river of blue shirts.  There are some parts of this parenting thing that I definitely do not like.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Janet made dinner for Wyatt and his homecoming group.  She dusted off the fine china that has been sitting in the cupboard for 20 years, and polished up the silver (Most of it was tarnished pretty bad).  It turned out really good from all the reports. We love and miss you all and pray your doing well.
