Peter's Week

Good weekend! Yard work which is always therapeutic (BTW, apples are on and falling to the ground if anyone wants some...Anna and Steve made apple pie from them and showed me pictures on Skype).  Then went for a nice bike ride.  Was going to go to Kimmie and Roberts on the bike trail but one of the bridges was out so I had to turn back.  Still did 38 miles...such a pleasant day for it.  Steve and Alyse stopped by after BYU's game and good to catch up.  I got to see Brandon, Ashlee and little Talmage for about a minute as they were headed to feed him.  Today, I started for Frank's to see the kids but on the way there was a major traffic jam (looked like someone had dumped a bail of hay was all but had all lanes shut down) and the Melissa called to say she and the two youngest were at Grandma Kathe's so I went back as I needed to collect Friends of Scouting money.  Anyway, the highlight was when I walked in, Sophie gave me a big hug and then so did little Andrew before he hurried off to bed.  We looked at the pattern for Sophie's Halloween costume (she's going to be Tinkerbell) and wondered how Frank is going to get Gavin's R2D2 costume made!

Movie recommendations if anyone is interested....I watched two on Netflix.   One is called Dish and is about this radio telescope in Australia that was used to transmit the first video pictures of Niel Armstrong walking on the moon.  About 500 million people world wide watched but what they didn't know was that there were 5 guys in Australia maneuvering this 210 foot satellite dish in 60 mile an hour winds when it was only designed for 30 mph winds.  Anyway, a good clean flick.  The second was called Kickin It and was about the Homeless World Cup of Soccer where kids who are homeless are taken off the street and play soccer for a chance to be their country's pick for the world games in Cape Town South Africa.  It was more of a documentary but very well done and some incredible life stories in told.

Anyway, that's it for the week.  Work was again work.  Some brief hope as I learned that the board approved a new round of stock for employees to keep us motivated.  That was followed up by a power outage that took down most of our customers for hours....something that is absolutely unthinkable in the new market we want to enter.  Apparently, the batteries in the backup system were dead so there was no power bridge as we went from main power to the generator.  Why the batteries weren't under constant surveillance is a mystery to me.  I was thinking that the only thing that has made it to production that I had anything to do with in the last two years has been full screen (a minor feature) and I keep reflecting on one of the despair.com posters that goes, "Winners never quit.  Quitters never win.  But those who never win and never quit are idiots!" I think I'm beginning to question my own sanity :-)
