Well... three bad days, one neutral and one good day at work. The good day was Friday so all in all, that has to be a positive week. I feel like I did get a lot done although not much that will result in new income for the company. I'm at a point where I think I should call our troika of executives the naked princes--they think they have everything covered and they don't know how exposed they are. The VP of engineering asked me if I was going to stay around and that I couldn't leave as I was so integrated. "I'm integrated and understand all the problems but I'm not making any progress," I said. But I'm there for the short term--several more months at least. Would love to get some sort of support business for the industry going that I could have more control over. We'll see. I feel like I have reached a milestone this last couple of weeks in that I've had good, vigorous and open conversations with all executives in which they know exactly what I think and yet they still seem to like me. I'm hoping I have that Aunt Virginia trait of being able to be completely and bluntly honest but people love you because your intent isn't malicious.
Had a great day on Saturday. Started with weights to make my shoulder feel better; then to an Achievement Day with Alyssa where we ate pancakes and did some little service projects. She had on her new school shirt with sparkles. The neighbors gave a table and chairs to Ginny that looks nice in their kitchen and now they can seat up to 12 at the table comfortably. Then yard work. Then finished cleaning the carpets (new info on carpet cleaner if anyone is interested). Then for a bike ride. Then to a birthday party for one of the scouts had in the very first group - they turn 30 this year! Then to a reception. Then shopping. Then home and turned on the TV just in time to watch Michael Phelps win his 8th gold medal---wow! What a day.
Will probably take next weekend off in going to Idaho as the three day weekend for Labor Day follows that and will go up then to work on the house on those days. Hopefully, will be ready to paint by then!
Hope you are all enjoying the wonderful weather.... I love this time of year with the cooler temperatures but warm days. Did anyone see the Full Moon last night? It was awesome!
Love,
Pete
