This week I started a very private blog, tracking the details of why my days at work are positive, negative or neutral. Don't know if I'll ever share it but at least it's sort of therapeutic. We had a fun skills building day on Tuesday where we had workshops on communication, meetings, and effective planning. One session allowed us to anonymously text the one thing that we think needed to be done to improve the company the most. The answers came up on a screen and .... well, I'm definitely not alone in my frustration with our management. The week overall ended slightly positive as the COO wanted to know how I was doing and what I thought about the company. I told him honestly and he told me that he had been thinking of leaving as well but that he was soliciting several of us to try and get some processes in place and rein in the the other C-level guys. So, could be positive. We'll keep trying.
So I officially moved back into my bedroom over the weekend. Let's see, when did Anna move out? It's only taken 5 months to move upstairs! But now, I have to other bedrooms with nice clean sheets if anyone wants to come visit. It's been a great week for weather and I've had some good rides. Last night, I went out and rode down to the lake and back. Pretty good time and never even got tired. It was a little over a twenty mile ride. We're working on the cycling merit badge for scouts so this week will be doing the same ride again.
The Olympics are over...now on to the next media event--the Democratic National Convention. If you want to watch it, they use our stuff and you can see it at www.demconvention.com and click on HD Quality Video. The quality is SOOOO much better than the Olympics. I told our marketing person she should get a saavy reporter to write an article on "How NBC and Microsoft Robbed the World of the Olympics." The picture was very small and also it was very choppy and stalled. By my calculations, 60% of those that wanted to watch it online, couldn't using the Microsoft technology.
My brief consideration of switching to vote Democrat ended yesterday with the instant message from Senator Barak stating that he had selected Joe Biden as his running mate. Wrong choice if the Senator really wants us to believe he can effect a change to eliminate bipartisanship!
Have a good week!
