i was thinking about this hungarian word when i read about the skunk in the chicken pen. chicken grabber! they actually use it to describe someone that picks pockets. so pretty much like a stealer. it makes more sense in english if we are talking about are little friend the skunk:) that little csirke fogo! here i will give you the translation so you can call him that...cheerka fogo(logo with an f in place of the l)
so me and my companion had an interesting experience...almost like the skunk in the chicken pen:) we had just finished a program and had to hurry back to the branch house(a rented building)where we would have a program. we were on our bicycles and were hurrying as fast as we could so that we wouldnt be late. we came up to the front gate which was open at about 7 30 at night...dark by this time. we notice the gate was open but other people use the same parking spot from surrounding businesses so we just figured there was no problem. all the lights were off in the building and me and my companion came gliding right up to the doors where we hurridly turned on the outside lights(from outside) and then turned to unlock the door. i opened the door and noticed that there were some odd pieces of clothing scattered on the floor but didnt think alot about it. i took about 5 steps into the building after my companion turned on the lights then we heard a loud slam that sounded like it came from both inside and out side of the building. i hurriedly turned around and me and my companion took a couple steps outside the door to see what we had heard. my companion saw someone crouch behind a gazibo that is in our courtyard. we figured that this person made the sound but didnt know why or with what he made the sound...we figured that the person behind the gazibo was someone that we knew trying to scare us. my companion called out to him asking who he was....at this the man stood up...and began saying "i didnt take anything, please, please, i just wanted to sleep!" then he took off across the courtyard in a mad run with some bags on his shoulders. i had no idea what to do...my little brain was put into slow motion as he ran away from us only 15 feet away! we then relized that he had been in the branch house and that he most likely had stolen something...at this we took off after him kind of at a half speed...me being a little nervous about him have a weapon or if he really had told the truth and was just sleeping in there(i didnt want to wrestle down a man just for sleep in in our building):). by the time we came around the corner he had already bolted down another street and was out of sight. we ran across the street and into the nearest bar asking the bartender what the police's phone number was...no response...so we asked the someone sitting at the bar..then took off back to the branch house. i was so confused at the whole thing that i dialed 1007 instead of 107 for the cops number...i was sure that was what i heard...but it didnt work so my companion stopped a lady that was riding by on a bike and we got it right. i hurried and explained the situation to the police and then we waited for the cops to come. they came with in a few minutes and asked us a few questions then we had to wait for the real investigators. they came with cameras little marking tablets. measuring tapes, shoe booties, and other "csi" equipment. it was pretty cool to see how they came in and did fingerprint testing and took a bunch of pictures of the broken window and other cool things like that. it was pretty intense. i have never had to deal with the cops other than being pulled over (on our way to mexico)by 6 cops down in flagstaff arizona for breaking some ice in a parking lot:) it was kinda nerve racking but we got over it pretty fast. he didnt get away with anything but he had our little piano packed up and also our dvd player ready to go with a few other odds and ends in a bag. he left one tool in his flight out to the building..we turned it over to the invesitgators. we figured he had been in the building for about 7 minutes before we came and startled him. all is well though. the some agents came to our apartment the day after and we looked at a picture of a suspect but we didnt recognize him. the guy that broke in seemed really scared of us so we didnt feel too threatened. we will see if the cops can find him...time will tell.
so... that was my version of skunk in the chicken pen.
other than that it was a pleasant week as the fall is now here! i love the fall! just like jessica said...its delicous. we did have the baptism for little brigi. it was a really good experience. we got all of the old men out of the baths and saunas except for the clean up guy that was spraying the whole place down with a hose...he was in a speedo.... and was kind enough to turn off the water and while she was baptized. of course he was curious also so he turned around and watched as well:) it was really special. my companion baptized her and i confirmed her and gave her the gift of the holy ghost yesterday in church. that was nerve racking but when it came down to it it wasnt that bad but was actually a really special moment. it was fun to see how excited she was. later that day...we talked with some investigators about it and they thought that she wasnt capable of making that decision. i was on splits with another elder that made the comment to them that of course she doesnt fully understand that she was baptized and now has a guide in life to follow...then followed it up with the fact that we as 20 year old men can not fully compredhend baptism and the atonement and we have been learning this stuff for x amount of years. Christ invites us to come unto him as a little child and be baptized in his name. children dont know everything but they are more that willing to do what is right. that is what i saw in this little girl as she was baptized. she was so delighted and realized that this was something that would help her. ok i am done rambling...i need to save that for conducting in church:)
we actually just arrived from szolnok this morning, we did this huge split with an elder from tatabanya that knows a few of the inactives in this city really well. our mission president arranged it so that he could come back and try to spark the light in some of the inactive members down here before he goes home next week. i hope it helped...we were on splits for almost 3 days....we took a train from bekescsaba to szolnok where we met up with my companion and the other missionary from tatabanya...then jumped back on a train to bekescsaba...i got up at 5 and my companion got up at 3 45 so we are nice and tired:)
we have not had the opportunity to watch conference yet but that is all scheduled to happen this saturday and sunday at the exact same times...just one week later on dvd...in hungarian:) have a wonderful week everyone...i am still waiting on the package...it might have gotten lost...we will see. i didnt recieve any update on football from dad...so i hope the boys did good.
