Fwd: En

Dear Family,

So this is a good story. Last night as I was lying in bed, drifting off to the land where Bongo floats in the skies, I FELT something out of the corner of my eye. Literally. The corner of my eye seemed to be twitching with the sensation that something was crawling out of it. I dug my arm out of the bundle of blankets and with my fingers investigated the scene in utter darkness. I found there a small, warm creature that felt to me like a slug or a very small worm. In complete disgust I hurled the thing at the floor, alarming my companion by my screech of fear. I was like "Sese! Turn on the light." I was so grossed out as she groped for the light. As the light flooded the room and blinded our eyes, I could see nothing on the floor. But then as my eyes focused in, I saw It. Like Calvin's crashed Destoyer (that little spaceship of his), there on the fake wood floor lay my right contact. He was standing on end almost, what with the force with which I threw him. Haha...we had a good laugh about that one. So not to worry. All is well with my eyes.

Speaking of my health...I think I won! The cold has been beat. Its on its way out. In general, I think my body knows that its on the way out (mission wise) and its seems to be wanting to shut down or at least take a rest or something.

What a busy and wonderful week have already been having this week! We recieved two referrals from members this week, both who have become new investigators. One referral came from an American that is living here in Vilnius, the other from a member in the branch. The American is Maria. He husband has something to do with the Navy and is stationed here at the Embassey. The Marine Ball was this last weekend, and Maria struck up a conversation with the only girl Marine here. Which eventually led to us being able to meet with her yesterday. We went up to the Embassey to meet, at the Marine house. It was insane! This big huge house with all sorts of amenities, a complete bar, at least five different game rooms and a few living rooms with big TVs. As we started to meet, every few minutes a random guy would come in a want to know what was going on and if we wanted anything to drink, etc. It was pretty funny. One of them actually joined us. But that was the first time I have taught in English on my mission to an American. It was crazy. Harder than I thought it would be. I kept trying to speak in Lithuanian. But we have a return appointment! We had to give them our own copies of the Book of Mormon, cause we don't have any here! Hopefuly this next week.

Our other referral has already investigated alot, as she is good friends with a few members. She has some deeper questions and concerns and it will be joy to watch the Lord answer her concerns through the scriptures. We just have to get those scriptures to her!

We also witnessed another little miracle last night. One of our less actives had an operation about a month ago and she has been in pain ever since. We drop in once a week to meet with her. She is shy but very sincere and witty. I suggested she get a blessing from a holder of the Priesthood. She quickly agreed, but thought it too late in the evening to try and make them come. A quick phone call determined that the Elders were actually standing right outside the building, looking for a building themselves. They contacted the branch president to get his permission, and were able to be instruments in the Lords hands for Alina last night. She opened up a lot more about how she still has strong faith, but just allowed herself to get lazy or relaxed about church til she just felt it had been too long for her to go back. But she is keeping her committments and progressing!

Hayden, we took cookies to our Branch President! The very next day after I got your letter. A pie would probably be good, as we have so many apples! Everything here is completely natural and untainted by chemicals, which means the apples are all scrunchy and wrinkly and ugly looking. But very tasty. And we have million! Every door that lets us in gives us a shopping bag ful. They don't want them, we don't want them, but someone has to take them!

Today for Preparation day we were Christmas shopping...I officially miss having a car. Oh, and I've decided that I want to spend a Christmas in England. All the British stores are full of just wonderful christmas stuff...mincemeats, real ginger breads, spicy teas, etc.
