Happy Thanksgiving

Just a note this week.  I remember having the thought while driving the snowmobile up the canyon that " You can't be from Idaho and be a wimp".  However this week I had the same thought that you can't be in the Hunter family and be a wimp either.  We sure partied it up this week in some of the best ways.  Tuesday we flew to the San Jose airport where we were whisked away from the curb to the the Almaden Country School Thanksgiving feast where Nan had just presided over the proceedings in her Pilgrim Costume.  It was really pilgrim-like using the last utensils left (knives).  The kids had a grand time playing on the playground equipment while Merrily secretly took every ones pictures for a birthday gift book for Nan.  We hung out at the school for a while visiting with old familiar faces and letting the kids play. Later we had dinner and enjoyed watching Pinocchio with the little kids.
Wednesday morning all the kids 12 and up went with the adults to the Oakland temple an hour and half drive.  The kids did baptisms while the adults did sealings.  It was a beautiful experience and a real highlight of the week.  Richard and Nan visited with us after in Richard's new office. We had pizza and headed for home.  Baby sitters had taken care of the kids while we were gone.  After dinner that night we watched another movie with the older kids.
Thursday was Turkey day and Nan's 70th birthday. The Dads did table and chair detail while the girls and moms spent at least 6 hours in kitchen putting the whole meal together.  It was a real treat to work together, visit and create all at the same time. I helped with the pie crusts and between Nan, Cami, Kayla, and I we made 15 pie crusts.  The tables, decorations, and meal turned out very nice.  After dinner we sang Nan some birthday songs and had a testimony meeting.
Friday the teenagers tended while the adults attended a class on teaching presented by Tiagi a professional educator.  He was a wonderful man and we enjoyed the association of he and his wife on Thanksgiving day as well.  After the workshop we returned back to the house for a family picture and lunch.  Later back at the school, we thoroughly enjoyed a marionette show for the kids. (old family past time of the Hunters)  Dinner was served and cleaned up and we then had the cumulative family talent show with numbers from most every grandchild in the family.  It was great fun.
Saturday we cleaned up, cleaned up, and cleaned up, headed to  the airport and had a very comfortable trip home and landed back in Provo. No major problems other than a little flu epidemic through the little kids. I think we all survived nicely.
