What a fun past couple of weeks. Let me work backwards in a time-line
because my brain only remembers sequentially rearward. Or starboard.
Whatever. Yesterday Dan called me and said he and David were headed to
Idaho for a visit to mom and dad and then over to Larsen's game. What a
combo: Idaho and football. Can't beat that with a sharp stick. So
Jordan and Tyler and me headed up to the ranch with Dan and David. We
had a great time stopping by to say hi to mom and dad. Mom, does your
computer work any better? I had a nagging fear that it was worse than
when I got there...Then we headed out to Grace and and stopped for
lunch. Kent and Mignon and Co. stopped and had lunch with us. I was
sitting at the table with Joe and Kai, Kent, Mignon and Dan. Little Kai
had both fists and his cheeks bulging with tots---the hoard method. Joe
wasn't having any of that. He was just shoveling them in as fast as he
could! It was a blast to be in Idaho and eat tots. Then we went to
Pocatello and watched Larsen's team beat Nampa Christian. Great to see
Don, Greshen, and all their kids. I took some pictures at the game.
Have you ever seen a goal post without a stand? Take a look at the
picture. The goal post hangs from the ceiling in the Mini Dome (Holt
Arena). I remember in 1975 was the only time I ever played in the mini
dome. I got nailed on the kickoff and hit my knee on the turf pretty
hard. It pretty much made me ineffective the rest of the game.
Meanwhile, Coach Bruce put Dan in as nose guard and he kept slicing
through the line and sticking the runners. Dan was only a freshmen.
Coach Bruce kept heckling his lineman saying "look at Danny Clegg, he's
only a freshman and he's getting more tackles than you seniors."
Friday night we went down and watched the Cougars B-ball home opener
against Long Beach State. Cougs won. It was fun. The boys sat in their
preferred seats---at the very top row of the Marriott center. Last
Sunday I flew to Seattle for two days of training. Drizzly weather but
beautiful. Also, I passed my two year mark with Sun on November 6th.
Hooray!!! That's almost 800 days of $10 medical/dental co-pay and a
401K!! (Thanks heavens my wife never reads this far down the blog).
Sun just announced a 20% reduction in force so we're praying this job
will continue. Ok. I'm done writing for now. It's been 10 minutes and
my Attention Deficit is raging.
