Steven/Shannon 112608

Last week Shannon and I escaped town for my 50th birthday. I had a
conference in DC and she was able to visit some hospital systems for her
work. We flew Wednesday to Baltimore and stayed downtown near the
Camden Yards baseball field. Then Thursday evening we drove down to
McLean, VA and visited Brook/Ed and family. Friday I went out to
Ashburn near the Dulles airport to visit a couple of clients and then
Friday we went and saw the new James Bond movie. Saturday Shannon and I
met Bruce and Linda Wardle for breakfast and then drove to Mount
Vernon. We stayed there for almost 4.5 hours taking in all the sites
and sounds. Very fascinating place with all the land and farming. The
weather was mostly clear, 44 degrees, and 10-15 mile and hour wind.
Very chilly. It reminded me of proselyting back in Korea with high
moisture content in the air. Thanks to the kids for letting us go spend
some time together. Sunday we went to Brook/Ed's ward where we ordained
David a Teacher. After dinner we worked our way up to Baltimore airport
and then flew back home. Jamie and the kids met us at the airport in
the Van. When I got home there was a huge poster hanging on the garage
saying "Happy 50th Papa". Then someone had put an inscription on the
paper "We love you papa like a fat man likes his butter." Touching.
